The La’s performed songs from their perfect but concise eponymous album. As a result, it was a fairly short set. However, the band did a proper encore, replaying whichever songs the audience requested. ‘There She Goes’ was played at least 3 times during the gig!

There are no ticket stubs for many gigs at The Duchess, as we simply turned up and paid a few quid on the door. Entry to gigs was fairly cheap, so we could afford to take chances, seeing bands who frequently went on to greater things.
