With two iterations of The Beat touring the UK at regular intervals, I sometimes lose track of which version I’m about to see. However, double 2 Tone isn’t such a bad thing.
At this gig it was original founder, Dave Wakeling’s lineup (AKA The English Beat), celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the band’s debut album.

Originally planned to take place at Weetwood Hall but relocated to the more intimate setting of The Vinyl Whistle to coincide with Record Store Day 2022.
I missed the earlier bands but caught the main three acts performing stripped back sets: Nigel Clark (Dodgy), Jonny Brown (Twisted Wheel) and John Bramwell (I Am Kloot).

Don’t call it a comeback . . . Far too good for a one-off reunion, and yet that’s exactly what it seems to have been. Definately for the people.
